Trends I hope stick around: Lady-like Retro

So, I may be a little late on this trend (it was all over last falls runways in Louis Vuitton's collections, as well as Dior, D&G, and many more.) but, I'm still totally smitten with that lady-like chic, early 60's fashion. Especially since watching 4 episodes of "Mad Men" the other day. Its just so classy! The shapes and the fits and the prints...just classic. January Jones looks absolutely stunning in it as Betty Draper in Mad Men.

So this is my take on it, using my own clothes. We shot these while spending the weekend at a friend's grandparent's house (she was house sitting for them) in between attempting to do front flips into the pool and chasing stray cats around a MacDonald's parking lot.

Some of the photos turned out oddly grainy, and the exposure wasn't great, but oh well. Cardigan: 20$ Target Black lace tank top: 11$ Target, Black Button Skirt: 15$ CR, Floral headband: 2$ Pac Sun. The necklaces came from CR (if you're wondering that stands for Charlotte Russe) and American Eagle and were both around 6-7$, except for the long pearl strand, which belonged to my grandmother. The shoes are 20$ black retan wedges (sorry you cant see them very well) from Rack Room.

That last one turned out soo grainy and dark, but I like it! It looks old and severe. 13$ floral top-Target. Silky blue long skirt: 14$ CR. Same pearls as before, wrapped. Pins from mother's/grandmother's jewelry box (seriously, ask you mom/grandmother's/aunts/what have you to dig through their old jewelry, I've gotten soo many unique accessories that way. And they're free!) 24$ blue mary-jane heals from Rack Room, 5$ peacock headband from Claire's.
**Interesting head bands are ALWAYS a good investment. Cheap, functional, instant style~so easy to dress up anything with, and they look cute on every one.**
3$ elephant earrings from CR.

If you want to go more summery for this trend, go for classic cuts in bright florals. That would look so chic right now...well, anytime really. Like this girl is wearing:
So Feminine! Darling! Classy! (Even though she looks to be about to whore it up with Don Draper...)
A few more photos I took just for fun:

Awesome old rocking horse.
Also that weekend we stayed up untill 4am facebook spamming each other and watching "Blue Crush 2" (this really dumb, but totally great-in-a-cheesy-way movie about homeless surfers in South Africa.) So, yeah, it was a pretty bitchin' time.
That's all for now;)

  1. This is my favorite of your "looks." Very pretty and classy and elegant without being prissy. You can go through my jewelry box any time. Keep up the good work on this blog ...
